Ajmera Thump - Half Marathon at Bangalore - Race Report

As part of my yearly two half marathon program, I had signed up for Ajmera Thump Half Marathon organized by Life is Calling organization. It was held at NICE Road, Bangalore on 13th Dec 2015. Few thousand people came for the event. I had participated along with my running buddies from our community Neelabh & Ashutosh. This is the first lifeiscalling race for all of us..

Weather was perfect. First two hours into the race was all cloudy & sun came up around 8am. I had tried out walk-run routine from the start. I started running for one minute and brisk walk for next minute. I continued like that for 17kms. I was going very strong. If i had continued that pace, I would have finished my HM in 2:40 or less. Unfortunately, I had got cramps in my right quadriceps. I had listened to my body and tried to stretch. Called for help from the Ambulance which is shuttling there. One Physio helped me to stretch and massaged the quadriceps. I had started again slow and finished the last 4 kms somehow. I managed to complete the whole HM in 2:56:34.

Overall, experience was good. Get more motivation to do better and practice harder. Felt great to complete two HM's in the year 2015 as well. Looking forward for 2016 to do more HMs while improving the timing.

TeamILP

TeamILP is representing 8 teams i.e., 96 runners total. My team name is "Literally Running" consists of 9 first time relay runners, 3 veterans. I joined the team pretty late in the training as one of the members dropped out of the team. I had hardly 4 weeks of training under my belt for this relay. Hoping that I can make it without any issues.

2010 season started with spring run followed by half marathon, 199 mile team relay

Unlike last year, this year I wanted to spread my yearly minimum target of running 2 half marathons. With that in mind, started this season with 10K kickoff spring run organized by my Alumni Team Asha. Weather co-operated nicely and end up finishing the run strong.

Signed up for Santacruz half marathon going to be held at Santacruz on April 11th. Started training slowly for the same. Longest run so far was 8 miles and I am hoping that I can do the half marathon with a decent pace.

Today, I had signed up myself to run in 199 mile relay as part of Team ILP as a replacement for one dropped runner. Will publish a seperate post on this run later. This relay seems to quite involved and it is going to be a different experience to my running career as well.
